There are several types of abrasive and polishing belt that found locally and some needs to import from other countries
Note : some belts have cloth backings and some have polyester backings both have their own working criteria depends on user and material. Some belts works in dry conditions & some required mist cooling systems or wetting the work piece during job. Only Aluminum Oxides, Silicon Carbide, Zirconia and Ceramic Belts are easily available in Pakistan rest of belts need to import from other countries like China, USA and Europe
(A) Aluminum Oxide Sanding Belts Ideal for Woodworks, Metal and Plastic
(B) Zirconia Belts Ideal for all materials
(C) Ceramic Belts Ideal for knife making, Metals, Woodworking, Brass, Copper, Titanium , Tool Steels, Stainless Steel and Moderate Hardened Material

Here are these alphabetic codes with their applications
ABRASIVE SHEET AND ABRASIVE BELTS BACKING
X Weight means heavy cloth backing used for slightly harder jobs
Y Weight means very high polyester cloth that turns the sheet or belt to a durable form and used in high and tough grindings
J Weight means light weight cloth with flexibility used for outline or plunges or inner radius profiling. These flexible belts don’t need platen or contact wheel while grinding
F Weight means highly flexible cloth more than J, same J cloth function
ABRASIVE PAPERS (SAND PAPER) BACKINGS
A Weight for low abrasive paper and high in finishing like 40# where no need to push more, used for finishing the workpiece, extra ordinary fine grits. The range of grit is 800grit-12000 grit
C Weight for moderate abrasive and moderate finishing like 70#, mild girts like 320grit-800grit. Type C papers are foldable and also used in flat applications
D Weight for here medium coarse range start, very abrasive and sanding 90#
E Weight for strong and durable paper used for belts, discs & sheets 130#
